"We Would Think of That Night Often" - Victoria Alice

We would think of that night often

Driving down that haunted backroad

The music loud, but it never mattered what played

Somehow it always fit

The sound of the ocean of stars above us

The UFO we swear to this day we all saw

How life seemed to happen in its own way, no matter

what you plan

Right before your eyes

There are words for moments like that

Like a subtle whirlwind bringing you back to your body,

smiling

You look happiness in the eye knowing if you stare too

long, it will become all too self-aware

And just for a moment you say “By God, you’ve got me”

And you let go.
